- Purchase Santa hats, reindeer antler or some other costume item that everyone can wear to indicate that you’re a group of carolers.
- Ask your guests to come over for a pre-party an hour before you plan on caroling. The best time to carol is between 6 and 9pm.
- Be sure to stop caroling at 9pm.
- Visit only the homes of people you or your guests know.
- Give songbooks with lyrics to your guests so that everyone can sing along with confidence.
- Remind everyone to dress comfortably and warmly since you’ll be caroling outside.
- Encourage festive attire in red and green.
- Use caution. Be sure children have someone looking after them.
- Keep flashlights handy with fresh batteries.
- Use tambourines or sleigh bells to enhance the sound of your songs.
